For the approved Allied Subjects, the Committee on Education and Special Training (CEST) created Special Descriptive Circulars for Accounting, Chemistry, Economics, English, French, Geology and Geography, German, History, Hygiene and Sanitation, Physics, Psychology, Surveying, Topography and Map-Making, and the War Issues Course.1 A selection of these Special Descriptive Circulars as well as Special Bulletins are presented below. All of these courses were offered at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI). These circulars were intended to serve as guidelines for colleges and universities on how to teach the course and schools were allowed to adapt the courses for the resources available.
